First off, if this store only has books by 1 single author, and the whole website is run by that same author, then why???? does everything say this is a publisher website?
Okay, maybe you weren't wondering about that, but you probably are now that I mentioned it.
The cool answer is, Marten Press Books IS a publishing company! It's one I started all by myself so I could publish my books. That's right, y'all, I'm a CEO. π
The less cool answer is, I have lots of health issues and sometimes I need help running my store or doing other logistical stuff for the business. So, in effort of being honest, emails and responses typically use the "we" pronoun to represent someone from Marten Press Books, since it's not always me. It basically just makes things easier on me to do things through my publishing company instead of doing everything myself.
I still do all the writing though, cause I'm cool like that. β
Who is Kay L. Moody, though? And what even does she write?
I am a fantasy romance author with 4 complete series, all with no spice. My books are big on royalty, intrigue, and magic. π« But I also love slipping in things like:

I absolutely love writing and bringing the characters in my head to books (where they belong π€).
Hmmmm, what else? What else is there about me?
I'm married and have 4 awesome kids. Also, I think this picture of my kids is hilarious. π€£
Before becoming an author, I used to do nails. π
Nail art is the ONLY kind of art I can do. π

I honestly didn't realize until now that it's been so long since I took a photo of myself with a book. I should probably get on that.
And in case, you're wondering, yes, I AM wearing pink in (nearly) every photo on purpose. Pink is my favorite color. It's awesome, and if you disagree, you're wrong. π©·
But I do actually wear pink in my author photos on purpose. To match my β¨aestheticβ¨

Anyway, fun fact, I've been friends with some incredible authors (the Queens of the Quill), since 2020. And we've been doing weekly zoom calls since then.
So last year, we FINALLY did a writer's retreat where we all got to meet in PERSON. It was 7 whole days long! And I thought it would be funny to wear pink every single day (they all know my favorite color is pink) and to wait until someone noticed.
Well, the last day came, and I announced, "I wore pink every single day of this retreat, and no one said a single thing. None of you even noticed!"
To which they all collectively answered that they DID notice, but they just thought that was my regular wardrobe. π Okay look, I do wear a lot of pink, but it's only like 25% of my wardrobe, not 100% of it. These ladies have seen me over zoom every week for years. They should have known I don't only wear pink. π

If you're thinking there are no sword fights or battles or epic fantasy dangers in my books because of the pink thing, don't worry. There's plenty of stabby, seriousness going on in my books, along with yearning, kissing, and people pretending they haven't fallen in love yet.
Think of The Hunger Games level of violence but with more romance, and my books are epic fantasy instead of dystopian.
But, here, to prove I can be serious, and to share a recent photo of myself, here I am wearing black.
The sword letter opener was a very necessary prop. Trust me. π
So, long story short, if you like romantasy books that:
π‘οΈ Aren't super dark but that still have high stakes
π Have no spice but plenty of romance, tension, and yearning
π° Have magical worlds you won't want to leave
π Are filled with royalty, capable women, and men who fall HARD
