When the Faerie prince calls you his pet in front of his advisors.

"Call me 'pet' ever again, and I'll claw your eyes out."

“Ignore her.” The fae prince Brannick waved toward Elora dismissively, but then his eyes sparked with an idea. “She is my pet.”

Her eyes widened as she jerked her head toward him. “What did you just say?”

He glanced at each of his advisors, carefully avoiding eye contact with only her. “She is outspoken for a mortal. And stubborn. You need not listen to a thing she says.”

Her fists clenched tight at the sound of those words. “I will not be ignored.”

He finally looked at her then, only to say, “Hush, mortal.”

“Elora.”

“What?”

Her arms folded over her chest. “My name is Elora. Stop calling me mortal.”

Guilt slipped across his features as he swallowed. “I will call you whatever I like.”

She leaned toward him slowly. “If you call me ‘pet’ ever again, I will claw your eyes out with my bare hands.”

Review for Court of Bitter Thorn

If you like Holly Black, you'll love Kay Moody! I was absolutely captivated with the details Kay put into her book. I have always been a huge fan of Fae and Faerie books. I love being transported into this realm. With Kay's writing, it felt like I was in Faerie. Her stunning details and amazing characters were what kept me reading. I couldn't put the book down! Her attention to detail is what puts her above others!

Elora's adventure throughout Faerie kept me on my toes. Her character was the perfect strong female lead. Prince Brannick was the one you love to hate and hate to love. Throughout the story you see his character arc grow, and you come to realize why he is the classic arrogant Prince. I love that this wasn't a typical 'love story'. It was filled with action, adventure, plots, scheming and a dash of romance. It'll definitely have you wanting more!

Elora loves her sword, she doesn’t go a day without practicing. (𝘜𝘮 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘰 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦) But ladies aren’t meant to sword fight, so instead of fulfilling her dream to compete in a tournament, her parents have found her a wealthy merchant to marry.... but when tragedy strikes, will Elora give in and marry the merchant or will she take the road that possibly leads to adventure?

This was such a fun book, with major Cruel Prince vibes. So if you enjoyed that you’ll definitely want to read this. It was so fun going on this adventure. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Review for Court of Bitter Thorn

Elora is, at 18, the oldest of three sisters. Her father if the most famous sword maker and fighter in the country. Her mother was a famous court musician. Her parents left court to make a better life for their children but have now fallen on hard times. To save the family Elora must marry an older, rich merchant. But all she wants to do is show people that she is as good a swordsman as her father was. Of course, women were not allowed to enter tournaments so this seemed an impossible dream. Then everything changed in the blink of an eye and Elora was living a magical adventure.

Like so many books that fall into the YA category, this book is for all ages. The author brings to life a young woman’s feelings. Her ability to stand firm and resist being called stupid! She learns to appreciate the magical situation that she finds herself in but finds a lot lacking. For the full story the reader will need to read the next books in the series, which is something that I’m never fond of, but it will hopefully be out soon!
